Aspects and Elements of Time

This chapter had a lot of information that most people know yet not a lot of people stop to think about. It is all information that is useful to those that want to make a video or consider it as an art form. It is all about the time that it takes to make a video the time it takes to watch the movie and what to do during the time you are recording. Also what sorts of things are important to add in a film. For example transitions. Most movies use the cut, fade and dissolve. However there are a lot more that can be used. Comic books are a bit different from movies but not varied. Then there is Duration, Tempo, Intensity, scope, Setting, Chronology, and composition. A lot to think about when making a movie. That is why one must have an open mind a lot of time and of course money to make a perfect picture take place.

The most important aspect that I found in this reading was tempo. If the movie is not at the right beat in relation to everything else going on, it ruins the entire thing. Tempo is important while filming but also while editing. Enough of the story must be told to make the viewer understand what is taking place. However the time you have to show the film also must be kept in mind. In this case cuts and time passing techniques are used. It is also important to consider what the viewer will pay attention to during that time. If there is something in the background for example how long it takes the audience to notice makes a big deal.
